Red Coral

Red Coral is a common name that exists for corallium rubrum and several related species of coral and its also known as moonga stone or munga stone in india and hindu astrology. The original Corallium rubrum is mainly found in Mediterranean Sea, and it grows at a depth of 10 to 300 meters below sea level. Red Coral Gemstone grows in dark environment on rocky sea bottom, where there is a very high sediments deposit. It is composed of intermeshed spicules of hard calcium carbonate, though it looks like a plant, but actually it is a marine gelatinous animal known as Polyps. Red Corals are organic gemstones formed from the skeleton of individual polyps. Red coral stone should be free from cracks, crevices, luster and blemishes. Red Coral is not found in mine or mineral but is an organic deposits found underneath the ocean. The most famous red coral comes from italian and japanese origins.
